Under the Patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mired Bin Ra’ad Partners Celebrate the Closing of an Upskilling Program for Disabled Veterans

AMMAN, Jordan, July 22, 2025 – Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mired Bin Ra’ad, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers, Boeing and Amideast Jordan, celebrated the successful conclusion of the “Disabled Soldiers Empowering Tourism” program. The ceremony marked the end of a transformative workforce development initiative aimed at empowering 46 disabled Jordanian veterans and their families through high-quality upskilling and employment readiness in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Implemented in Amman and Irbid, the 19-month program provided over 190 hours of targeted training in English language, digital literacy, soft skills, and industry-specific technical competencies certified by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Participants, aged 20 to 45, received training aligned with labor market needs. All veterans also benefited from tailored psychosocial support that enhanced their resilience and overall well-being. Amideast shared participant CVs and profiles with over 15 industry employers as part of its referral support.

“Boeing recognizes the values and experience veterans contribute to the company’s success,” said Kuljit Ghata-Aura, president of Boeing Middle East, Türkiye, Africa and Central Asia. “That’s why we are proud to support the transition of veterans into civilian careers and commend the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers for the program’s continued impact.”

Nour Alrasheed, country director of Amideast Jordan, added: “This initiative demonstrates how coordinated partnerships can lead to impactful change. These veterans did not just gain skills, they found renewed purpose, confidence, and connection to a sector that now sees them as capable contributors. It is a powerful model that we are proud to replicate.”

The program stands as a replicable model for inclusive employment and public-private collaboration in Jordan. It reinforced Amideast’s role as a trusted partner and, based on its success, secured a follow-on grant to expand the initiative to support more disabled veterans in 2026.

In addition to this program, Boeing and Amideast/Jordan have successfully partnered on several community initiatives in Jordan over the years, including:

  • The Careers in Aviation program (now in its third year): supporting young Jordanians in starting aviation careers.
  • The Data Science and Readiness Program: providing university graduates with training in data science and analytics.
  • The Spark program: developing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills among girls from public schools.
