The strategic partnership between Saudia and Boeing, and its long-standing relationship that keeps renewing, growing, and continues to deepen in strength for over the last 70 years.
Specifically, in 1945 when King Abdulaziz Al-Saud, King of Saudi Arabia received a gift from his friend, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States in the form of a DC-3 Dakota aircraft. That same aircraft was the nucleus of Saudia, and helped it form its beginnings.
Over 130 aircrafts from the Boeing family, had and continues to have a major part in Saudia journey, and it continues to contribute to its growth, development, enhancing Saudia’s capabilities and its competitive position. Today our fleet consists of 50 wide-body Boeing aircrafts.
The relationship between Saudia and Boeing is not confined to the field of aircraft manufacturing alone, for there are other facets of our strong partnership and cooperation in the fields of training, localization, improving maintenance and safety processes, as well as training and qualifying Saudi nationals in the fields of maintenance and technical services for civilian and military aircrafts. Also, manufacturing spare parts in the Saudi Aerospace Engineering Industry (SAEI), which is a subsidiary of the Saudi Arabian Airlines Holding Company.
