Boeing and AmCham Bahrain Host Event to Support Orphans and Elderly
- Iftar event created an inclusive environment, promoting greater understanding and respect across generations during the holy month of Ramadan
Bahrain, Manama, May 20, 2019 - Boeing and the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain) with the support of the Bahrain International Federation of Business & Professional Women (BPW) hosted an Iftar for Bahrain’s orphans and elderly community, bringing the young and old together in an inclusive environment aimed at fostering bonds, promoting greater understanding and respect across generations.
Around 20 children from Batelco Children’s Care Home and 40 senior citizens from Dar Al Manar in addition to the members of the hosting organizations, participated in a series of fun and engaging activities after breaking their fast together at the BPW’s center in Al Andalus Park, Qudaibiya.
The event was inaugurated by H.E. Shaikha Hind Bint Salman Alkhalifa, President of BPW Bahrain and President of the Mother & Child Welfare Society. Bernard Dunn, President of Boeing Middle East, North Africa & Turkey was also in attendance and said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure hosting this event and watching these kids sharing their excitement, exchanging ideas and learning new skills with individuals seven to eight times their age. Kindness, understanding and respect are fundamental pillars to the betterment of any community and today’s event was a great example of how every member of society has a part to play in the country’s development.”
Qays Zu’bi, President of AmCham Bahrain, also stated: “AmCham is honored to be partnering with Boeing and BPW to provide an opportunity for an iftar with traditional games and family-like interactions for the kids and elders. Sharing stories of the past, learning new things in the present and making friends is fun and inspiring for us all. Honoring tradition and bringing the generations together is in the true spirit of Ramadan and the values of Bahrain.”
The event featured Bahraini chefs presenting traditional dishes, in addition to local artists sharing their skills and expertise in photography, painting, recycling, cooking, and calligraphy to inspire creativity and knowledge exchange between the generations.
