Boeing and AMIDEAST host workshops to enhance Bahraini women’s employment prospects and essential workforce skills
Manama, Bahrain, June 4th, 2017 - Boeing (NYSE: BA) has reinforced its commitment to Bahrain’s community by supporting the introduction of an employability skills training program for women by AMIDEAST.
The program called, “Skills for Success,” successfully concluded in Manama, after 52 hours of training focused on topics to enhance the employability skills of young, Bahraini women with the training necessary to improve their job entry prospects and basic workforce skills, setting the foundation for their careers in the long-term. Topics included business writing, business etiquette, presentation and public speaking skills, time-management, innovation and creativity. A group of 17 young women between the ages 20 and 26 were selected from a pool of over 100 alumni of AMIDEAST programs. AMIDEAST’s primary focus is on young women who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to participate in extensive and intensive employability training elsewhere.
“Boeing is proud to support these young and talented women. Thanks to Skills for Success, these women will be equipped with the professional skills, and more importantly, the confidence to proactively secure better opportunities in the future and ensure their longevity in their current jobs,” said Bernard Dunn, President of Boeing Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.
According to one participant, “I think I can speak for all of us when I say this program has been a huge confidence building experience. If empowering women was a goal of this program, then it certainly succeeded.”
“AMIDEAST is proud to have partnered with Boeing to be able to provide critical workforce development skills to young, Bahraini women who are at the start of their careers. Thanks to the wonderful support provided by Boeing, these young women have benefited from training that will positively impact their professional opportunities and future growth,” said Samar Khleif, Country Director for AMIDEAST/Kuwait.
AMIDEAST will continue to follow the progress and their success rates of the program participants to ensure the program has had a valuable impact. The final session took place on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
